Flag: The Austrian flag has consists of three horizontal bars, red,white,red. The Austrian triband is the second oldest flag it has been in ues since at least 1230. ( The oldest flag being the Danish flag that has been in use since 1219) There is a legend that says that the flag was invented by Duke Leopold V after a feirce battle his white surcoat was drenched in blood and when he removed his belt the cloth under neath was still white, he liked the white and red combination so much he worked it into his banner.
